The Constitution of India originally provided for the Right to Property and also the right to enjoy and dispose of the property without any restriction. Article 31 reads as under "No person shall be deprived of his /her property, except by authority of law". Article 31 and article 19(1)(f) in Part III dealt with one's right to property. This right was abolished by the 44th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1978 and it was made only a legal right under Article 300-A of the Constitution.
