Carbon monoxide
The primary consituent in caol is carbon. The complete combustion of carbon releases carbone dioxide which is somewhat less posionous than carbon monoxide which is produced due to incomplete combustion of carbon.
Oxides of sulphur and nitrogen is also produced which depends on the impurities present in the coal.
