  1. An organ that makes hormones, digestive juice and other substances like sweat, tears saliva and milk are called glands.
  2. There are three types of glands exocrine gland, mixed gland and endocrine gland.

Thymus gland:

  1. It is an endocrine gland located on the dorsal side of the heart.
  2. The thymus gland is also known as the “Throne of Immunity".
  3. The immune system development is done by the thymus gland.
  4. Thymosin is a peptide hormone secreted by the thymus gland.
  5. A decrease in the production of thymosin due to degeneration of the thymus gland in an old person results in a weak immune response in an old person.
  6. Hence it is called as the throne of immunity.
