Pancreas is the mixed gland or the dual gland. It acts as the endocrine and exocrine gland.
Exocrine pancreas: The function of the exocrine pancreas is to produce pancreatic juice containing enzymes that digest carbohydrates, fats and proteins .So , exocrine pancreas is involved in digestion.
Endocrine pancreas: The endocrine pancreas secretes the hormones insulin and glucagon , which are principally concerned with control of blood glucose levels. The alpha cells produce glucagon, beta cells produce the insulin. So , the endocrine pancreas is involved in hormonal system .
