  3. The majority of gymnosperms do not contain vessels in their xylem, which is in contrast to angiosperms as it possesses both vessels and tracheids.
  4. Gnetophytes are an exception, it is the only gymnosperm, which possesses xylem vessels.
  5. The xylem vessels are the long tube-like compositions, which assist in the conduction of water.
  6. The existence of vessels in Gnetophyta shows that they were the ancestors of flowering plants.
  7. Examples of Gnetophyta are Gnetum, Ephedra, etc.
