Question
Which has a longer time period a satellite revolving close or away from the surface of the earth
Open in App
Solution
A satellite revolving closer to the earth will have a smaller period of revolution.
Shorter distance would result in a greater force of gravity and a shorter orbit... which in turn would result in a larger velocity...
A larger velocity in a smaller orbit = smaller period of revolution.
