  1. It is also called anti-diuretic hormone (ADH).
  2. The hypothalamus produces vasopressin, which is transmitted axonally to the neurohypophysis ( posterior pituitary gland).
  3. Vasopressin acts primarily on the kidney.
  4. It increases distal tubule resorption of water and electrolytes, lowering water loss through urine (diuresis).
