Which hormone is antagonistic to parathyroid hormone?
Calcitonin
The thyroid gland also secretes a protein hormone called calcitonin which lowers the blood calcium levels. When the blood calcium concentration rises too high, calcitonin stimulates the uptake of calcium into bones, thus lowering its level in the blood.
The parathyroid glands secrete a peptide hormone parathormone. When the level of the calcium decreases in the blood, parathormone increases the calcium levels in the blood, by reabsobing calcium from the kidney. So, parathormone and calcitonin have antagonistic effects on calcium levels in the body.
