  1. Growth hormone is secreted by the anterior lobe of pituitary gland.
  2. Growth hormone (GH) is also called somatotropin which regulates the growth.

Function:

  1. It stimulates the growth of essentially all tissues of the body, including bone.
  2. Growth hormone levels increase during childhood and peak during puberty.
  3. Lack of GH in childhood leads to dwarfism and excess secretion leads to Gigantism.
