Which is an effective method to control mosquito breeding?
Cultivation of Gambusia fishes that eat the larvae of mosquitoes
Regular cleaning of ponds and lakes
One of the best methods to control malaria is to control the spread of the vector i.e., the mosquitoes. This can be done by regular cleaning of places having stagnant water like ponds and lakes which serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. A novel way is to cultivate fish like Gambusia in public water resources are being practised. These fish eat up the mosquito larvae thereby reducing mosquito population. Mosquito repellants mostly provide protection from mosquito bites by repelling them, and usually don't kill them or prevent their breeding.
