Double circulation.
he main function of the human heart is to pump blood through the body, setting in place a system for the distribution of different substances, mainly oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2) and hormones. The heart sends deoxygenated blood to the lungs which it then receives after the oxygenation process and sends to the rest of the body. When it receives it again without oxygen the whole cycle starts over. This is a key physiological activity because all of our cells need oxygen to function properly and lack of it causes severe trauma to the tissue/organ affected.
