Which is more basic Mg(OH)2 or Al(OH)3?

Open in App
Solution

Al(OH)3 is more basic than Be(OH)2 since the size of Al atom is more than that of Be, the force of attraction between Al3+ ion and OH will be less than that between Be2+ and OH ion. Hence Al can loose the OH ion easily than by Be.
