Cerebrum:

  1. About 83% of the brain is occupied by the cerebrum. Hence it is called the largest part of the brain.
  2. It is comprised of the right and the left hemispheres connected by the corpus callosum.
  3. The outer layer of the cerebrum has the cortex which is rich in gray matter.
  4. The folds of the cortex are called gyri with grooves called sulci which is easily visible making it the conspicuous part of the brain.

Functions:

  1. The cerebrum is involved in memory, planning to reason etc.
  2. The cerebral cortex is involved in voluntary actions such as hearing, taste, smell, etc.

Hence, the cerebrum is the largest and the most conspicuous part of the brain.
