Africa is also the second largest continent in terms of population, as over one billion people, or 14 percent of the world's population, call Africa home. Africa covers 20 percent of the Earth's total land area. The continent is made up of 55 unique countries including Kenya, Egypt, South Africa and Nigeria. At 19,340 feet, Mount Kilimanjaro's Uhuru Peak in Tanzania is the highest point in Africa. The Nile is the longest river in Africa which is 6,695 kilometers in length. Nearly 1,000 different languages are spoken in Africa.
