Question

Which is the strongest acid?Why?

HI, HF HCl HBr

Open in App
Solution

HCl is the strongest acid!

The more easily an acid can dissociate into H+ ions, the more stronger it is.

The size of Cl- ion being larger than F- ion, the HCl bond is weaker than HF bond.

So it can break(dissociate) more easily and liberate H+ ions easily and hence is a stronger acid.
Cheers!
