Which is the type of allele that can express in both homozygous and heterozygous conditions?
Alleles are the two alternative forms of a gene. An individual inherits two alleles for a gene, one from each parent. Each allele expresses two alternative traits of a genetic character.
Homozygous is a genetic condition where the same alleles for a particular gene from both the parents are inherited by an individual. The alleles are identical here. TT and tt are homozygous.
Heterozygous is a genetic condition where different alleles for a particular gene from both parents are inherited by an individual. The alleles are not identical here. Tt or tT are heterozygous.
If an allele is dominant, then it masks the expression of the other recessive allele and this prevents the recessive trait from being expressed. Hence, a dominant trait gets expressed in both homozygous and heterozygous conditions.
