Metals are good conductors of heat as they allow heat to pass through them easily. In other words, we can say that metals get heated faster.
When a metal is heated, the atoms in the metal gain energy and vibrate more vigorously.
This energy is then transferred to the electrons present in the atoms and moves through the metal. When these energetic electrons move through the metal, they transfer the energy to other electrons and atoms of the metal.
This is called heat conductivity which is also a characteristic property of metals. This shows that heat can be conducted from one end of the metal to its other end.
Best conduct of heat:
metal is the best conductor of heat because it has the highest thermal conductivity.
