Solution

The process of filtration is used to separate solid seeds from liquid fruit juice.

Filtration – The process by which the insoluble or suspended particles of a mixture are separated from the liquid by using a porous membrane called a filter is called filtration.

Important points about filtration -

  1. The solid or insoluble component left in the filter is called the residue.
  2. The clear liquid obtained is called the filtrate.

Another example is the separation of sand and clay particles from water by passing them through filter paper.

In case of separating seeds from fruit juice -

  • The insoluble component or residues are seeds.
