The International Labour Organization works as an agency of the UN and was established in $1919$ as a result of Treaty of Versailles after the First World War. Till now the ILO has passed various conventions out of which there are eight conventions fundamental to the objective to the ILO i.e. preparing international labor standards, social protection and equal work opportunities.

In June $1999$, the $87$th edition of ILO Convention, one of the fundamental convention which was named 'Worst forms of child labor convention" as ILO convention no. $182$ was adopted. The country ratifying this convention commits itself to take immediate action to prohibit and eliminate all the worst forms of child labour.
