Solution

The correct option is D Propan-2-ol
Propan-2-ol would be oxidised to propan-2-one.
CH3CH|OHCH3oxidation−−−−−−−CH3C||OCH3
Ethanol (CH3CH2OH) would be oxidised to ethanal (CH3C||OH) . Butan-1-ol (CH3CH2CH2CH2OH) would be oxidised to Butanal (CH3CH2CH2C||OH). 2-methylpropan-2-ol (CH3C|OH(CH3)CH3) is a tertiary alcohol and requires drastic conditions for its oxidation. The number of C atoms in oxidation product of 2-methylpropan-2-ol will be less than the number of C atoms in 2-methylpropan-2-ol.
