Which of the following are components of an acid?
Hydrogen ion
Acid radical ion
An acid has two parts : (1) the hydrogen ion and (2) the acid radical part.
An atom is said to be a radical when it contains at least one unpaired electron. When acids dissolve in water they split up into their hydrogen part and radical part.
For example, HCl dissolves in H2O−−−−−−−−−−−−−→ H++Cl− .
Here, Cl− is the radical.
