Solution

Definition:

  1. An expression of the form a0xn+a1xn-1+a2xn-2+...+an where a0,a1,a2,...,an are real numbers and n is a whole number, is called a polynomial.
  2. The highest power of the variable in a polynomial is called its degree.

x5-3x+13x2-4=x5+13x2-3x-1-4

Given expression x5-3x+13x2-4 is not in the form of a0xn+a1xn-1+a2xn-2+...+an where a0,a1,a2,...,an are real numbers and n is a whole number.

Because, the exponent of x is not a whole number.

Thus, it is not a polynomial.
