Which of the following are properties for human RBC?
Biconcave
Oxygen-carrying
Lacks a nucleus
In humans, mature red blood cells are circular, biconcave disc-shaped cells. Such a design enables easy passage through the capillaries. Moreover, since their most important role is to carry oxygen (with the help of the haemoglobin in them), they even lack a cell nucleus and most organelles. This enables them to reserve the maximum possible amount of space for haemoglobin.
