Solution

The correct option is D All of the above
Photo-chemical smog: Formed by the action of sunlight on unsaturated hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. This smog is also known as oxidising smog.
Emitted pollutants, hydrocarbons and NO, interact with sunlight to give NO2 . The NO2, again absorbs energy and breaks up into NO and free O atoms.
NO2(g)hνNO(g)+O(g)
Oxygen atoms are very reactive and combine with the O2 in air to produce ozone.
Ozone is a toxic gas and both NO2 and O3 are strong oxidising agents and can react with the unburnt hydrocarbons in the polluted air to produce chemicals such as formaldehyde, acrolein and peroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN).
3CH4+O33HCHO( Formaldehyde )+3H2O
3CH4+O3CH2=CHCHO ( Acrolein )
CH4+O33CH3COOONO2 ( Peroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN))
