The renal tubule is a coiled tubule of 27mm in length and 0.06mm in outer diameter which dips into the medulla.The renal tubule is differentiated into three regions:
a) Proximal convoluted tubule: The first part of the tubule which is highly coiled and situated in the cortex.
b) Henle's loop: The second part of the tubule, is a hairpin-like portion which passes to the medulla and then returns back to the cortex.
c) Distal convoluted tubule: The third part, is another coiled section which opens into the collecting tubule.
