∙ Organs which have no function or lost their function in the course of evolution and are still present in the organism are called vestigeal organs.
∙ Organs like appendix which has no function in present human digestive system, served important functions in their ancestoral beings. Similarly, hairs on skin, wisdom teeth and pinna are other examples of vestigeal organs in human beings.
∙ Eyelids are not vestigeal organs as they cover and protect the eyes.
