Phylum Aschelminthes includes animals commonly known as the round worms. They are bilaterally symmetrical, triploblastic, pseudocoelomate and dioecious. However, not all of them are parasitic. Freeliving roundworms (the most familiar group in this phylum) are extremely abundant in soils and sediments, where they feed on bacteria and detritus.
