Which of the following are various methods of water purification?
household filtration
chlorination
boiling water
The water purification methods are:
Filtration: In this process, contaminated water is passed through a filtration membrane. The pores in the membrane are small enough to allow only water to pass through it. Impurities cannot pass through the membrane and so, water is made free of impurities.
Boiling: It is one of the most common methods of purifying water. Water is heated to its boiling point long enough to kill microorganisms that normally live in water at room temperature. Then, water can be used for consumption or any use.
Chlorination: In this process, a chlorine tablet or bleaching powder is added to water. Chlorine kills all the microorganisms and makes the water microbe-free. Chlorination can only make water free from microbes. It cannot remove other impurities. So, chlorination is used after filtration.
Sublimation can't be used for water purification because neither water nor the impurities present in water are sublime in nature.
