The tropical grasslands, called savannas show two extremes of seasonal variation. There is a rainy season in the summer with around 40 to 65 cm of rainfall and a dry season in the winter.

Temperate grasslands are further up the equator and hence experience the shift from winter to summer. Temperate grasslands also receive much less rainfall than savannas.

Deserts on the other hand receive very little to no precipitation.

The tropical rainforest receives heavy rainfall, making them very humid and warm but never dry.
