Solution

The correct option is C Improving personal hygiene
Ringworm is a very common skin infection caused by fungi :
Microsporum
Trichophyton
Epidermophyton

The infection initially appears as red patches on the affected areas that spreads to different areas of the body affecting scalp, nails, feet, groin and beard. The fungus grows well in moist environments like showers, bathroom floors/ walls, swimming pools and in between the skin folds. Ringworm can be caused by direct skin contact with an infected person, from infected pets and cows, sharing personal items (clothes, comb, towels and brushes) and contact with soil contaminated with spores.

Therefore, in order to avoid the fungal infection the following measures should be taken care:
Cleanliness and hygiene should be maintained
Hands should be regularly washed
Clean, washed and ironed clothes should be used
Loose-fitting cotton clothes should be worn for easy drying of sweat in summer seasons
The skin folds have to be kept clean so that accumulation of sweat and fungus can be avoided
Touching or scratching the itchy red patches should be avoided to prevent it from spreading
Fungal infections cannot be treated with antibiotics (used against bacteria). It can be treated using antifungal agents. Vectors (oransims transmits diseases) are not associated with transmission of fungal infections. Vaccinations are not available against ringworm infections. Hence options a, b and d are incorrect.
