Phloem
The complex permanent tissue called phloem with the help of tracheids, vessels fibres and phloem parenchyma help in translocating photosynthates called sugar sucrose . Also known as sinks, it includes delivery to all active areas of growth like apical and lateral meristems, developing leaves, flowers, seeds, fruits ,areas of sugar storage like roots, tubers, and bulbs. Note that the fluid in a single sieve tube element can only flow in a single direction at a time, but fluid in adjacent sieve tube elements can move in different directions. This is how phloem can translocate bi-directionally.
