Which of the following characteristics is not true for rods in the retina of the eye?
They are confined to the yellow spot
The retina contains two types of photoreceptor cells called rods and cones. The rods are responsible for vision in dim light and they contain the pigment rhodopsin. They are distributed almost throughout the retina and there is only one type of rod cell, unlike cones which are of three types. The cones cells are mostly located at the centre of the retina and contain the pigment iodopsin.
