Which of the following compound(s) give(s) the Cannizzaro reaction?
The Cannizzaro reaction:- Aldehydes which do not have an α hydrogen atom undergo self-oxidation and reduction reaction on heating with concentrated alkali. Obviously, since two equivalents are necessary, one aldehyde equivalent is oxidized to the carboxylate anion while the other is reduced to the corresponding alcohol.
From the options given, none of the substrates has α-hydrogens. Hence, they'd all undergo the Cannizzaro reaction!
