Solution

The correct option is D Patagonian Desert
The major hot deserts of the world are located on the western coasts of continents. The aridity of the hot deserts is mainly due to the effects of the off-shore trade winds. E.g. Mojave Desert in USA, Great Australian Desert, Atacama Desert etc. The temperate deserts are rainless because of their interior location in the temperate latitude, well away from the rain bearing winds. Eg- Gobi, Patagonian Deserts. However, Patagonian Desert is more due to its rain-shadow position on the leeward side of the lofty Andes than to continentality.
