Aliphatic diazonium salts are highly unstable.
Aromatic diazonium salts are more stable than aliphatic at low temperature (05oC) due to the resonance.
Due to resonance, partial double bond character is present between C and N in benzenediazonium cation, thus, removal of N2 is difficult.


Only one type of diazonium salt is stable at room temperature and it is benzenediazonium fluoroborate.
