Which of the following diffusions are not possible?
Solid into solid
Diffusion is a process of occupying the emppty spaces between the molecules by molecules of other materials.
Solids cannot diffuse into solids, as the space between the molecules is very less and the strong bonds holding the molecules of solids together.
But on the other hand, we know that the gases from the atmosphere diffuse and dissolve in water. These gases especially oxygen and carbon dioxide, are essential for the survival of aquatic animals and plants. Diffusion occurs in the liquid because of the empty spaces between the particles of liquid. So we can conclude that solids and liquids can diffuse into liquids.
