For anode rays, the e/m value is dependent on the nature of the gas taken in the discharge tube, i.e., positive particles are different in different gases.
Whatever the gas is taken in the discharge tube and whatever the material of the electrodes, the value of e / m is always the same for cathode rays. So, the nature of the cathode rays is independent of the nature of the cathode and the gas in the discharge tube.
Hence, cathode ray does not depends upon the type of gas taken in the discharge tube.
