Solution

The correct option is C Duplication of centrioles
Cell cycle is an orderly sequence of events during which a cell grows, duplicates its genetic material and then undergoes division. Cell cycle includes a non-dividing phase, interphase and a dividing phase, mitotic (M) phase.

In the M phase of the cell cycle, the cell undergoes division. During cell division, there is division of nucleus (karyokinesis) followed by division of cytoplasm (cytokinesis). During division of cytoplasm (cytokinesis), there is cell plate formation in plants. Cell plate is a structure that forms in a dividing plant cell at the end of mitosis. It is derived from the golgi complex. It helps to divide the parent cell into two daughter cells.

Duplication of centrioles occurs in the cytoplasm during the S phase of cell cycle. S phase is one of phases of interphase during which a very important event of DNA replication also occurs.
