Concentrated sulphuric acid is a dehydrating agent as this acid has the capability to remove chemically combined hydrogen and oxygen from substances in the ratio equivalent to that of water. Concentrated sulphuric acid is used as a drying agent during the manufacturing of chlorine, sulphur dioxide and hydrochloric acid. Concentrated sulphuric acid reacts with ammonia to form salt and water as concentrated sulphuric acid is acidic and ammonia is basic in nature.
