The electron affinity is a measure of the attraction between the incoming electron and the nucleus. Generally, E. A decreases down a group and generally increases across a period in the periodic table.
It is applicable to all pblock element groups. but oxygen has lesser electron affinity than that of sulphur because oxygen is smaller in atomic sizes.
