When Mendeleev proposed his periodic table, he noted gaps in the table and predicted that unknown elements will be discovered in the future with appropriate properties to fill in those gaps.
The undisovered elements at that time for which gaps were left in the periodic table were named by Mendeleev as Eka-boron, Eka-aluminium, and Eka-silicon.
Scandium, gallium and germanium which were discovered later were found to have properties similar to Eka-boron, Eka-aluminium, and Eka-silicon, respectively.
