Geotropism is simply the growth movement of plant parts towards or against the direction of gravity. If it is towards the direction of gravity we call them positively geotropic (example - growth movement of roots towards the soil) and if opposite we call them negatively geotropic (example - growth movement of shoot against the gravity).
