Solution

i 5x2 - 7x + 4 is polynomial expression, as the powers of variable x are positive integers.

ii 24 is a nonzero constant and every nonzero constant is a polynomial expression. Therefore, it is a polynomial expression.

iii We have 5a2 + a + 4 =5a2 + a12 + 4 5a2 + a + 4 is not a polynomial expression, as one of the powers of variable a is 12, which is not an integer.

iv 78x-4x4+5x3 is a polynomial expression, as all the powers of variable x are positive integers.

v t2 + 2 t - 7 is a polynomial expression, as all the powers of variable t are positive integers.

vi We have 3x2+7 x-7x=3x2+7x-1-7x 3x2 + 7 x- 7x is not a polynomial expression, as one of the powers of variable x is -1, which is not a positive integer.

vii x38-4 is a polynomial expression, as all the powers of variable x is a positive integer.

viii 3x-2+x-1+5 is not a polynomial expression, as the powers of variable x are -2 and -1, which are not positive integers.

ix y23+7y-8 is not a polynomial expression, as one of the powers of variable y is 23, which is not an integer.

x We have x35-1=x35-1 x35-1 is not a polynomial expression, as the power of variable x is 35, which is not an integer.
