Which of the following eye defect is due to the non-formation of the pigment rhodopsin?
Night blindness
Night blindness is a condition in which a person finds difficult to see under dim light conditions, such as during the night. This is due to the non-formation of the pigment rhodopsin (visual purple) in the rods. Only rods function in dim light and in the absence of the pigment they cannot function. This difficulty is usually due to the deficiency of Vitamin A which is required for the synthesis of the pigment.
