After conquering Central and West Asia, Genghis Khan arrived at the banks of the Indus, while chasing the enemy ruler, Jalal ad-din. Jalal asked Iltutmish for help, but Iltutmish was well aware of who Genghis Khan was. To avoid direct a conflict with him, he denied this request. This resulted in Jalal ad-din moving back towards Persia and the Mongols being diverted.
