Solution

The correct option is C

CO2

In soda-acid fire extinguishers, sodium carbonate and sulphuric acid react to form sodium sulphate, carbon dioxide, and water. Carbon dioxide spreads over the fire and cuts off the supply of oxygen and hence fire is extinguished.

2NaHCO3(aq) + H2SO4(aq) Na2SO4(aq) + 2H2O(l) + 2CO2(g)
