Carbon monoxide gas mixes with the blood and prevents it from carrying oxygen .

On inhaling Carbon monoxide, it bonds with the haemoglobin present in the RBC of our blood and forms a complex called carboxyhaemoglobin. Carboxyhaemoglobin lowers oxygen saturation of blood, which can even cause death of an individual.
