Cellulose occur in the cell wall of plants and in certain animal tissues. Itts main source is cotton and wood. It is a non-reducing carbohydrate. It has a very high molecular weight. Cellulose is formed only by the β D-glucose units. These glucose units are linked by C1C4 glycosidic linkage to form the cellulose structure.
OH group of C1 carbon of one glucose and OH of C4 carbon of another gluocse unit combine to form C1C4 glycosidic linkage.
