Question

Which of the following graph represent Boyle's law?

Open in App
Solution

According to Boyle's law, for a confined gas at constant temperature, the product of pressure and volume is constant.
So, as per Boyles law
PV=constant
P1V
Let, P=KV ....(1), where K is any constant.
PV=KV2
Hence plot of PV vs 1V2 will give a straight line.
From equation (1), logP=logKlogV, where K is any constant.
Therefore, the plot of logP vs logV is a straight line with a negative slope.
