Solution

The correct option is C Acid rain

The Taj Mahal is situated in Agra. The industries located in and around Agra release pollutants in the air.
These pollutants like sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide react with the water vapour present in the atmosphere to form sulphuric acid and nitric acid respectively. These acids get mixed with rain drops and fall on earth in the form of acid rain. This acid rain is corroding the marble of Taj Mahal. A neutralisation reaction takes place between marble which is basic and acids in the rain resulting in the destuction of the marble surface by turning it yellowish.
